Definition of news item 

According to Oxford English Dictionary, news item text is a text which inform readers about events of the day.

News Item Text is a type of writing that provides actual information about events that are important to be reported. News items Text sponsored to provide information to readers or listeners. Usually, News Text Items provide information that is the latest event.


The purpose of the News Item Text is

The purpose of the news item text is to inform the reader about daily events that are worth reporting or important. And the events reported are usually the latest events or events.

Main Event / Newsworthy Event: 

Is the main story, a part that tells a summary of an event or important event that happened.

Event Background / Elaboration:

Tells in detail the background of the event or events that occurred, who was involved, where and how the event occurred.

The last part of the text structure of news items, news sources can be source statements, witness comments, expert opinions, or statements from parties related to an event.

1. Main Event/Newsworthy Event:

One Direction makes the fans excited. How not, after four years leaving their Instagram, the band consisting of Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and Liam Payne suddenly appeared again.

2. Event Background/ Elaboration:

Their appearance is because this year they celebrated 10 years of One Direction since it was formed through the talent search event in the UK in 2010.


In the photo caption column, they also wrote a fragment of the lyrics from their History song. "Tomorrow! You and I have a whole lot of history # 10YearsOf1D".


One Direction is a British music group formed through the X Factor 2010 talent search event. When it was formed, they consisted of five people, namely Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik.


Throughout his career, One Direction has released a number of albums, including Up All Night (2011), Take Me Home (2012), Midnight Memories (2013), Four (2014), and Made in the AM (2015).
